Should you have a dedicated cabin crew CV for each of the airlines that you apply to
To stand the best chance of getting shortlisted, and show the recruiter you make every effort to research the terms they use, you should always tailor your CV for every job and airline that you apply to. Every airline has unique core values and requirements that are specific to the airline.
The ATS or the new HR AI system will scan your CV for keywords from its own company core values and the phrases used in their job description. Passing this initial test will be more difficult if you have a CV that can be used in a generic way for all airlines.
It is also showing that you care. The computer selection system and recruiters provide bonus points when applicants take time and effort to tailor their CV for each role, and name dropping the airline (once or twice) on your CV will show your research, attention to detail, motivation and your drive towards that airline.
Generic CVs look totally unprofessional. It shows that the candidate is not making any effort to craft their CV to the job description. A tailored CV mentioning the airline’s name and what the airline is looking for demonstrates that the applicant is really passionate about the job with their airline.
The keywords and skills for the cabin crew role at Etihad, Emirates and Qatar are different. After all, success in the job search is all about standing out from the crowd.
Some of you may ask what does it mean to tailor a CV.
Tailoring a CV is investing time to customise your resume for every job you apply to . You use different sentences in the personal statement and your job experience to highlight the skills that the airline requires. You have to formulate your skills and experience from a different angle , and pay close attention to their job advertisement. You definitely have to structure each CV in a different way, because each airline prioritises on different business core values and puts focus on different aspects.
Your chances for success using a general CV can drop by up to 50% as your CV does not highlight their priority keywords. It could lead to rejection because you are not going the extra mile to make a difference.
