The latest timetable and events at the Etihad cabin crew assessment day
Etihad Cabin Crew Assessment Day - A story reproduced here - Source: Our client based in South Africa.
Cape Town, South Africa (Invite only)
We started off with about 60 candidates. Everyone sat in a seminar room where we had two male recruiters (one is a pilot for Etihad, the other works for Etihad aswell) who were extremely friendly and welcoming. They explained to us how the day is going to work and gave us a very short briefing about the position.
Etihad Cabin Crew CV Drop
We then started with the CV drop, one by one each person goes to one of the recruiters and you give them your CV and necessary forms. He then asked a few basic questions about my CV like why did I stop working where I was working, why do I want to go to Abu Dhabi, what did I study etc. It was more just a ‘chat’. Then you have to go stand against the wall so they can check your height. After measuring your height, you have to pick a card which will have either a word or a photo on it. You will then have to speak about the topic on the card, I got health & fitness. You were also given a number and they check for tattoos. Then they say thank you, and you go sit in the seminar room again. We waited quite a while before they eventually came back.
Etihad Cabin Crew English test
After the CV drop ALL of the candidates wrote the english test. They sent us a link via email, the test consists out of multiple choice questions, comprehensions, reading and giving directions etc. It was a very easy test. After the english test the first cut was made. They called our numbers out and approximately 30 of us (if I remember correctly) were called into a room and they told us that we made it through to the group assessment stage!
Etihad Cabin Crew Group assessment
If I remember correctly we were split into 5 groups of 6 people and they called us in group for group. We had to stand around a table in the order they told us to stand in and they told us we should each take a paper (containing a character) and read the instructions of the big card. ‘The plane crashed into the sea and there are limited spaces on the lifeboat, 2 of the characters are unable to go on the boat and have to stay behind, who will you choose to not save. I can’t remember all the characters we had but I remember a priest, pregnant woman, a veteran and I can’t remember the other two. We then decided the priest and the veteran were going to stay. After the group has made their decision they have to ‘present’ it to the recruiters. Our group worked very well together. After the group assessment the recruiters called out about 8 names and at this stage I thought everyone who remained in the seminar room didn’t make it through so I got quite shaky. But to our surprise ALL 22 candidates left in the seminar room made it through to the final interview! They gave us a briefing about the salary, life in Abi Dhabi etc. We also had a long break & had to take pictures of ourselves that we had to email to the onboarding email.
The Etihad Cabin Crew Final Interview
With the final interview the recruiter asked you a few compulsory questions like ‘can you swim’ , ‘will you sell alcohol’ etc. They they record your answers while doing yhe final interview. Some of the questions they asked me was:
- Name a time you provided exceptional customer service
- Name a time you and a co-worker didn’t get along and what did you do about it
(And I can’t remember the other questions I think they asked 2/3 more)
A lot of the people from FI got their Golden Email, I know of 9-10 people who received it! Very exciting! The assessment day as a whole was put together very well and the day was amazing, I made so many new friends! The recruiters were extremely nice and they tried to make you feel at ease the whole time!
Tips for your Etihad cabin crew assessment day
I would say really just be very friendly the whole day and be yourself, it is a very long day so pack yourself lunch and snacks, if you are able to sit with your group before your turn with the group assessment, talk with them and tell them about previous group assessments you have read about and decide in what order you will speak, take cards etc. so you don’t speak over eachother! Make tons of friends, because you never know who will be going to AD with you!
See you in the skies
