Emirates placed firm order for 40 Dreamliners but what will happen to the A380 superjumbo?

Emirates recently received their 100th A380 with a firm order for another 46 superjumbos. At the same time at the Dubai Air show, they agreed to purchase 40 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners for $15.1 billion, with delivery expected in 2022.

According to Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, this will take the airline into the 2030s.  The plan is to have the new 787 complement the 777 and 380 fleet giving them more flexibility to expand their destinations.

In terms of their ambitious projections, more personnel will be required.  More recruitment is expected to match their expansion plans, this to include more pilots, technicians and cabin crew to support their plans for massive global growth and expansion in the next decade.

Emirates is currently the largest Boeing 777 operator with 165 B777s in service today.
At the recent Dubai Air Show, Emirates also unvieled brand new cabins for its Boeing 777 fleet, including new First Class private suites.
