Tips for Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Cabin Crew Group Open Days - Group Exercises

Group Assessment Day Tips for group exercises to ensure you know just what the recruiters are observing

Tips for Group Assessment Exercises

1. USE YOUR ACTIVE LISTENING SKILLS

Emirates recruiters expect you to show your individual skills while making sure you do your best to work with others and fulfil your group objective. To achieve that, it's important that you show your teamwork skills by listening to what other candidates have to say before you speak up. Listening to what they say allows you to contribute to the group by sharing "more original ideas and thoughts".

2. SPEAK UP

Although taking part in a group discussion or assessment may be stressful for some of you here, it's important that you do your best to speak up. Emirates recruiters will go round observing which group members are the most confident in sharing their opinions, so this can impact how Emirates perceives and rates your interview performance. When contributing, make sure to "develop clear and concise messages" that others "can easily understand or relate to".

5. BE INCLUSIVE

You can improve your group exercise performance by showing that you're mindful of others. If you find yourself in a situation when one of the candidates tries to overpower the group, consider speaking up for yourself and inviting other people to discuss the topic or contribute with their ideas. This way, you can show the interviewer that you're a collaborative team player who's interested in supporting others while they use their strengths during a group project. This also shows your leadership skills. This is not a role where they only expect you to just be following procedures and do as you are told. Emirates are also looking for future leaders. Failure to show this will lead to a poor score for you!

6. DON'T JUST BE YOURSELF - ALWAYS BE YOUR BEST SELF

Emirates recruiters are continually observing how you perform during a group exercise, they want to assess your skills but it's also important for them to notice your important personality traits and core values. Showing them that you can remain polite and mindful of others under pressure is a great way to position yourself as a ideal cabin crew who prioritises the customer first and to work as one team. Even if you prefer working independently or if you're not determined to lead the group, showing that you work well with others will increase your chances of getting the job.
